I am going to be attempting this tomorrow. Is a reboot required after install? According to MS instructions after installing on passive node you are supposed to move the clustered mailbox server to passive node and then update other node.

Friday, August 14, PM. Yes that is correct. So no reboot before moving the clustered mailbox server? It is always best practice that you do failover before applying the Update Rollup to make sure there is no issue. Those are the exact steps I followed. I have now un-installed Rollup 9 from the one node that it installed correctly on.

Both nodes have Rollup 8 installed and I have failed the cluster back and forth a few times to make sure both nodes are happy. I only had a few test mailboxes on this cluster. I am going to try installing on the troublesome node first this time.

No luck, same node still hangs at stopping services. I guess it's time to call support. In some scenarios it still failed with MA export error caused by simple fact that update-recipient cmdlet used by ILM has ignored DC name passed by ILM in parameters on which operation should be performed.
